Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians

Apologies for the delay in my newsletter; the last couple of weeks has not only seen the usual build up to the end of term with grades, assessments, concerts, competitions and busy days but many have also been struck down with the nasty cold that was doing the rounds. Mrs Pugh and the tutors looked after the girls who had to rest in House and I am pleased to say everyone is more or less back to full health!

I would like to thank the girls who represented Oakley in Junior House Badminton and Senior House Swimming. Along with the Junior Drama team from earlier in the term, we treated them to a McDonalds lunch:

Congratulations to Ibby and Esinam who trod the boards in what I’ve heard was the best Senior House Production we have seen in a long time. It was great to see newcomer Rugile supporting backstage too in The Little Shop of Horrors. Lots of the Oakley girls went to support their friends onstage and I am sure it was a memorable experience for all involved.

This morning I held the Oakley end of term assembly. The whole House came together to reflect on the past 4 months and celebrate each other. For some Upper Sixth students it was the end of their 13th term with us, and they only have a term and a half to go before their next exciting adventures. We welcomed 32 newcomers in September and it has been wonderful to see them make Oakley their home away from home.

I was delighted to present the following awards:

Most Commendations – Shristi Rai and Sophie Tang

Tutee of the term – Sophie Tang, Emily Shaw, Lilly Osinga, Maria Stoyanova, Clara Kapricheva and Nikki Liu

House Ties – Aleksandra Antonenko, Paloma De Caraman, Lilly Osinga, Maria Putilova, Milla Shevotsukova, Ellie Chow, Ella Trow, Anouhska Gurung, Jessica Guo, Nadia Ezenwa and Charlotte Wong

House Colours were awarded to Rugile Speicyte and Clara Kapricheva

I gave thanks to the Oakley staff who help run this busy house and I even sang a song to celebrate the “Twelve Days of Oakley” but we will keep that under wraps!

Then we had the mammoth task of delivering Secret Santa for 75 girls:

I hope your daughters have lots of tales to tell you when they return home for the holidays and I wish you all a Happy Christmas. I look forward to welcoming the girls back to Oakley next year, in 2026.

Best wishes
